My Hair Can in Fact Be Tamed
Let's talk about a hair woe we've all faced – frizz. It's that uninvited guest that shows up to mess with your hair game, leaving you feeling like an alpaca, respectively. But fear not, because I’ve got some tips to take control and make you feel less like an animal. Get ready for a frizz-taming journey that'll leave your locks looking fierce and fabulous.
1. Hydration is Your BFF:
One of the secrets to taming frizz is hydration, and we're not just talking about your water intake. Invest in a good hydrating shampoo and conditioner combo, like those from Ouidad (for curly hair), Davines Oi or Amika Kure. These products infuse moisture into your hair, leaving no room for frizz to take over.
2. Hello, Hair Masks:
Treat your tresses to a weekly hair mask packed with nourishing ingredients. Opt for masks containing argan oil, shea butter, or coconut oil – these natural wonders work wonders in combating frizz and promoting sleekness.
3. A Magical Leave-In Conditioner:
Say hello to your frizz-fighting sidekick – leave-in conditioner. Brands like Briogeo and IGK offer leave-in options that smooth your hair's cuticles, making frizz less likely to pop up. It's like having your own personal anti-frizz shield!
4. Embrace the Right Tools:
Your hair's BFFs? A wide-tooth comb and a t-shirt towel. Gently detangle your hair with the comb, and when drying, opt for a soft towel to prevent excess friction that can lead to frizz.
5. Styling with a Twist:
When styling, opt for heat tools with temperature control. Make sure to apply a heat protectant before using any hot tools to shield your hair from damage and, you guessed it, frizz!
6. Sleep Smart:
Cotton pillowcases can be frizz's best friend. Swap them for silk or satin ones to reduce friction and keep your hair smoother overnight.
7. Seal the Deal with Serums:
Finish your styling routine with a frizz-fighting serum or oil. Mr. Smith is my favorite serum and Davines Oi Oil is a close second…serums that not only control frizz but also add a healthy shine to your hair.
8. Embrace Your Natural Texture:
Sometimes, the best way to conquer frizz is to work with your hair's natural texture. Opt for hairstyles that embrace your waves or curls, reducing the need for excessive heat styling.
While I believe we should not be tamed…I do think frizz can get out of control! Keep your wild self, and try some tips to manage that frizz halo. Until next time my wild women!
